In July 2011 the 100W LED became available from my favorite Chinese vendor. I bought a set of the chip and power supply.

The primary requirement is to remove the waste heat from the LED dice. I chose a server heat sink and fan with integrated thermistor and speed control.

The fan will run at minimum speed until the temperature rises. Then it will speed up to keep the LEDs cool.

This lamp was on duty at my home and then at HacDC for almost nine years and eventually broke due to being dropped.
