Equipment Failure Procedure
SW-60 Shield Water 10/22/62
A. One Shield Tank Cooing Coil or Related Equipment Becomes Inoperable
- 1. One valve CW-47V to increase flow through operable coil in order to maintain the shield
water temperature below 140F.
- 2. Isolate inoperable coil by closing and tagging either valve CW-43V or CW-44V,
depending on which coil is inoperable.
- 3. Repair inoperable coil during next reactor shutdown.
- 4. If operable coil should fail to maintain shield water below 140F, shut down reactor
and cool down primary system to a point where the shield water temperature remains below
140F.
B. Shield Tank Develops Leak
- 1. Open valve CW-42V in makeup line to maintain water level above the alarm point.
- 2. If water level can be maintained above alarm point repair shield tank during the next
reactor shutdown.
- 3. If water level cannot be maintained above alarm point, shutdown reactor and cool down
primary system in order to repair shield tank.
