Plant Operating Standard
WL-39 Gaseous Waste Collection System
A. Normal Operations
- 1. Secondary shield area is being continuously purged. See also POS RS-101.
- 2. The lab waste tank, the waste storage tanks, and the inner-bottom tanks are vented
to the gaseous waste manifold which is under a constant suction from the reactor compartment
ventilation system.
- 3. Air is being continuously evacuated from the sampling station hood.
- 4. The pressurizer is being vented daily for approximately
fifteen (15) minutes through WL-1V.
- a. Vent flow through WL-1V should be approximately 0.3 cfm at 25 gpm letdown flow.
- b. Letdown flow should not be less than 15 gpm and the letdown temp. should not exceed
130F while pressurizer is venting.
- c. Due to the pressure drop characteristics of the letdown coolers and the vent
piping, pressurizer vent flow can be adjusted or controlled by adjusting letdown flow.
- 5. Primary fluid samples are not to be taken from the sample lone down stream of
letdown coolers, if pressurizer vent valve WL-1V is open. See also POS SA-24.
- 6. Containment vessel purge valves are closed.
Minimum Condition for Reactor Operation
- 1. Lower void ventilation as specified in POS RS-101.
